Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (bite-sized)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for sauce)

Oils and Optional Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp if necessary, rinse and cut broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince the garlic finely and measure out all sauces and oils to streamline cooking.
  2. Blanch the Broccoli: Boil the broccoli florets for 1-2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender, then immediately transfer to ice water to preserve crunch and color.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook until just pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside to avoid overcooking.
  4. Sauté Garlic and Combine: Add a little more oil if needed, then toss in minced garlic and sauté until fragrant but not burnt, about 30 seconds. Return shrimp and broccoli to the pan.
  5. Make and Add Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water. Pour the sauce over shrimp and broccoli, stirring constantly as the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
  6. Finish with Sesame Oil and Serve: Turn off the heat and drizzle sesame oil on top, stirring gently. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for best texture and flavor; thaw frozen shrimp completely before use.
  • Blanch broccoli to keep it bright green and crisp without overcooking.
  • Cook on high heat to ensure quick searing and maintain vegetable crunch.
  • Cut shrimp and broccoli into even-sized pieces for uniform cooking.
  • Prepare the sauce ahead of cooking to save time and keep the process smooth.
