Ingredients

Scale

Bread Base

  • 6 soft bread rolls (such as brioche or Korean milk bread)

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz (225 g) softened cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Garnishes (Optional)

  • Chopped parsley or chives
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt or toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of sugar to balance the tanginess. Whisk until smooth and creamy, then set aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: Gently melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Cook carefully until the butter becomes fragrant and slightly golden, ensuring the garlic does not burn.
  3. Assemble the Bread: Carefully slice each soft bread roll open without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket. Spread a generous amount of the cream cheese filling inside each roll. Then brush the garlic butter sauce both inside and over the top of the bread for maximum flavor.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Place the assembled rolls on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese filling is slightly warmed.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley or chives on top for a fresh, colorful finish. Serve warm for the best creamy garlic bread experience.

Notes

  • Use freshly baked, soft bread to ensure the best texture and flavor absorption.
  • Do not overbake; golden brown tops indicate perfect doneness to avoid drying out.
  • Minced garlic should be finely chopped for even flavor distribution without overpowering.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth, easy spreading.
  • Opt for unsalted, high-quality butter for the cleanest garlic butter flavor.
  • Optional: add chili flakes or sriracha to the garlic butter for a spicy kick.
  • Optional: use vegan cream cheese and plant-based butter for a dairy-free version.
