Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh or thawed shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz spicy or smoked sausage, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Rinse the shrimp and pat dry. Slice the sausage into bite-sized pieces. Cut broccoli into small florets and finely mince the garlic for even distribution in the sauce.
  2. Cook the sausage: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage pieces and cook until browned and crisp on the edges, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the broccoli: In the same skillet, add broccoli florets and sauté for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp, retaining a satisfying crunch.
  4. Cook the shrimp: Add shrimp to the skillet with broccoli, cooking 2-3 minutes per side until pink and curled. Avoid overcooking to maintain tenderness.
  5. Make the honey garlic sauce: Push shrimp and broccoli to one side of the skillet. Add minced garlic to the empty side and sauté briefly until fragrant. Stir in honey and soy sauce, coating all ingredients with the glossy sauce.
  6. Combine and finish: Return the sausage to the skillet and gently toss everything together for 1-2 minutes to soak up the sauce. Sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired, then remove from heat.

Notes

  • Choose fresh or properly thawed shrimp for best texture and flavor.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if needed to brown rather than steam.
  • Use high heat for sautéing to lock in moisture and caramelize sausage and shrimp.
  • Taste and adjust sauce sweetness with extra honey or soy sauce as preferred.
  • Prep all ingredients before cooking, as this recipe cooks quickly.
