Dough Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp salt
Garlic Butter Topping
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Filling
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, letting it activate for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the flour, salt, and softened butter, then mix and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Prepare the garlic butter: While the dough rises, mix softened butter with minced garlic and finely chopped parsley to create the aromatic garlic butter for brushing.
- Shape the rolls and add cheese: Punch down the risen dough and divide into equal portions. Flatten each piece, place a generous amount of mozzarella in the center, then wrap the dough around the cheese to seal completely forming neat rolls.
- Apply garlic butter and second rise: Place rolls on a parchment-lined baking tray, brush tops generously with garlic butter, cover, and allow to rise another 30 minutes for fluffier rolls.
- Bake to golden perfection: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15-20 minutes or until tops are golden brown and cheese inside is bubbly.
Notes
- Knead dough until smooth but not too stiff to achieve perfect fluffy texture.
- Use fresh minced garlic for best aroma and flavor, avoid garlic powder.
- Seal dough tightly around cheese to prevent leakage during baking.
- Brush rolls generously with garlic butter to add flavor and help form a golden crust.
- Bake at recommended temperature for even cooking and perfect crust without burning.
