The Bacon and Egg Burger is a flavorful, hearty breakfast dish combining crispy bacon, a juicy beef patty, and a perfectly cooked runny egg, all nestled inside a soft toasted bun. Ideal for a protein-packed start to the day or a satisfying brunch, this recipe delivers a delightful blend of textures and rich flavors with quick and easy preparation.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb quality ground beef (with some fat content for juiciness)
  • 4 thin-cut bacon strips
  • 4 large fresh eggs
  • 4 soft burger buns, lightly toasted
  • 4 cheese slices (optional; sharp cheddar or American recommended)

Condiments & Toppings

  • Ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise, as preferred
  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: Shape the ground beef into 4 even patties about ¾ inch thick. Lightly season both sides with salt and pepper to enhance the natural beef flavor.
  2. Cook the Bacon: Fry bacon strips over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set on paper towels to drain excess grease while retaining crunchiness.
  3. Cook the Burger Patties: Using the same pan or a grill, cook patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side or until desired doneness. If using cheese, place slices on patties about one minute before removing from heat to melt.
  4. Fry the Eggs: Crack eggs gently into a non-stick skillet and cook sunny-side up or over-easy to maintain runny yolks, adding richness to the burger.
  5. Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the burger buns in the pan or toaster until golden brown to add crunch and prevent sogginess.
  6. Assemble Your Burger: Place lettuce and tomato on the base bun if desired. Add the cooked patty with melted cheese, top with bacon strips, then the fried egg. Spread preferred condiments on the top bun and complete the burger. Slice and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients, especially eggs and quality ground beef, for best flavor and texture.
  • Keep the egg yolk runny to add a creamy burst in every bite.
  • Let cooked patties rest for a couple of minutes before assembling to retain juices.
  • Ensure bacon is crispy but not overcooked to balance textures.
  • Toast buns evenly to enhance aroma and prevent sogginess from sauces.
